How Titan Fuels Built a Business Around Speed, Access, and Opportunity

April 2026

Texas — Titan Fuels didn’t grow by chasing the same work as everyone else. They built their business by going after the jobs others avoid.

Tight job sites. Smaller deliveries. Fast turnarounds. High expectations.

Three years ago, the company started with a single truck. Today, Titan Fuels operates across five major Texas markets with a fleet of 20 No HAZMAT Fuel Truck Upfits (MTUs), servicing over 100 job sites a day.

A SHIFT TO FASTER, MORE RESPONSIVE FUELING

Titan Fuels recognized a change happening in the field.

Contractors were moving away from managing their own fuel infrastructure. Job sites were getting tighter. Storage restrictions were becoming more common. And the demand for on-site fueling was growing.

Rather than price, Titan built its model around speed and responsiveness.

“We don’t really sell on price,” said owner Zac Russell. “We sell on how quickly we can get to the jobsite.”

In an industry where next-day delivery is common, Titan sets a different expectation.

“I’ll get calls asking, ‘When’s my fuel coming?’” Russell said. “I get to tell them we’ve already been there.”

BUILDING AROUND OPPORTUNITY

At the center of Titan’s growth is the No HAZMAT Fuel Truck Upfit (MTU).

For Titan, the MTU improved operations and more importantly, expanded what the business could take on.

The compact footprint allows drivers to access congested job sites without disrupting work or requiring materials to be moved. Longer hose options extend reach, allowing operators to service equipment across a site without repositioning the truck.

The MTU allows Titan to take on jobs that larger trucks can’t reach, and jobs that simply didn’t pencil out under a traditional tanker model. Before, those jobs were either skipped or priced out. With the MTU, they can be done efficiently and profitably.

“Those bigger trucks go up to $500,000,” Russell said. “To get the same productivity without having to spend that amount of money on a much larger truck that can’t do what these can, that’s a huge deal.”

Where other distributors rely on large, high-volume deliveries, Titan built a model around jobs that weren’t viable before and turned them into consistent, repeatable revenue.

Scaling Through Smaller Stops

Through the MTU fleet, each unit can move roughly 2,000 gallons per day, often spread across multiple pieces of equipment at a single site.

“We’re not trying to do 500 or 600 gallons at a time,” Russell said. “We’re looking for 200 or 300 gallons across multiple pieces of equipment.”

That approach changes how capacity is measured. Instead of tying up a large truck on one delivery, Titan can move an MTU between job sites, handle multiple stops, and keep equipment running without delay.

Speed Is the Model

Titan built its business around response time.

“We don’t really sell on price,” Russell said.
“We sell on how quickly we can get to the jobsite.”

In most cases, fuel is scheduled a day or two in advance. That’s standard across the industry. Titan operates on a different timeline. They’re set up to respond in hours.

“It’s a matter of getting on the job, getting it fueled, and getting back off,” Russell said. “Time is everything.”

That approach allows them to handle urgent requests, keep equipment running, and support jobs that can’t afford delays.

Expanding the Workforce

Titan’s growth is defined by how efficiently they can deploy their equipment as well as their workforce, and the MTU removes one of the biggest barriers in the industry.

“Thunder Creek trucks allow us to open up our labor pool,” Russell said.

Without CDL or Hazmat requirements, Titan can hire and train drivers faster, bringing new operators online in a matter of weeks.

Instead of waiting on a limited pool of certified drivers, Titan can build a workforce that keeps pace with demand and keeps trucks moving across every market they serve.

ROI THAT MOVES FAST

Titan expects to see a return on each MTU in under a year. That timeline is driven by how the trucks are used: constantly in motion, moving between job sites, handling multiple stops, and taking on work that wasn’t viable under a traditional tanker model.

“I would say within four or five months you could have
a return on some of these trucks,” Russell said.

BUILT TO GROW

Titan Fuels has expanded quickly, with a business model built around speed, access, and the ability to take on work that fits their operation. As they continue to scale across Texas, the focus stays the same.

“We’re at a good, scalable size,” Russell said. “We know who our customer is.”

That clarity is reflected in the way they manage their fleet, build their team, and deliver results on the ground.

Titan’s progress isn’t just about increasing output, it’s about harnessing the right tools to work smarter, not harder, and meeting needs that competitors aren’t.
