Design Improvements to Popular Models

July 2020

Earlier this year, we released a series of improvements that improve operation and durability of our most popular trailer models.

Multi-Tank Trailers

The MTT updates are highlighted by a new electric manifold that automatically shuts off tank valves after fueling to ensure legal transportation and provide protection against users accidentally leaving a valve open, which could subject them to moving violations.

Additionally, Thunder Creek redesigned the front-end of its MTTs to accommodate new customization options and quality improvements like improved door hinge design and a stronger DEF container shelf. Other notable engineering and optional feature additions include:

  • Re-engineered tank design to increase strength and durability in off-road applications
  • Thicker-gauge steel on MTT doors, plus new heavy-duty latches
  • Added option of gas- or diesel-powered fuel pumps that deliver up to 30 gallons per minute
  • Upgraded optional heavy-duty 35- and 50-foot fuel hose reels for added versatility

Multi-Tank Trailers allow users to legally haul up to 920 gallons of diesel without a CDL or HAZMAT endorsement. As such, they are most popular in commercial and industrial applications where drivers would otherwise need a CDL with HAZMAT endorsement to haul diesel in bulk quantities.

“We are always looking for ways to make all of our products better, stronger and more reliable so our customers can maximize their fueling, maintenance and diesel exhaust fluid efficiencies,” said Dan Nibe, VP of Engineering. “These important details bring the construction industry a bulletproof valve shutoff solution and design changes that further build on the craftsmanship and quality expected from Thunder Creek.”

FST Series Trailers

The FST platform now includes a re-engineered tank design that increases short- and long-term durability and meets the rugged demands of the field.

Thunder Creek’s FST class of trailers now also feature a redesigned front-end that reduces the ability for dust and debris to enter the trailer’s main chassis. Other notable engineering and feature additions include:

  • Thicker-gauge steel on FST doors, plus new heavy-duty latches
  • New Spin-Secure Fuel Caps
  • New fuel meter and filter options
  • Increased strength of the entire front box compartment
  • Upgraded heavy-duty 35- and 50-foot fuel hose reels for added versatility

FST Series Trailers, most commonly used in agricultural applications, haul 500-, 750- or 990-galons of diesel, and feature an optional 100-gallon Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank and customizable rear utility box.

“We are always looking for ways to make all of our products better, stronger and more reliable so our customers can maximize their fueling, maintenance and diesel exhaust fluid efficiencies,” said Dan Nibe, VP of Engineering. “These important details bring the construction industry a bulletproof valve shutoff solution and design changes that further build on the craftsmanship and quality expected from Thunder Creek.” “Our FST trailers are built for diesel, DEF and service flexibility, and these upgrades advance the rugged nature of our trailers and their capabilities,” said Nibe. “Unlike most equipment, these trailers can grow with you as your operation expands, with a full line of custom options.”
